Nuno Lemos Pires, Army Brigadier-General, PhD, is currently assigned as National Defence Policy Deputy Director at the Ministry of Defence and Professor at the Portuguese Military Academy in Lisbon/ Portugal. He holds a PhD in History, Defence and International Relations; a Master degree in Military Science, a Postgraduate in Military History; BA in Human Resources Management and two War College Diplomas (Flag Officers Promotion Course and Staff Course).
He served in several units including: as Platoon and Company commander in Infantry School; Military History and Strategy Professor at the PRT War College; as Intel Officer in NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain; as MA to the Commander at NATO Joint Command Lisbon; as Mechanize Battalion Commander in the PRT Mechanized Brigade; as Training Director at the Combined Arms School and Commandant of Cadets at the Military Academy.
During his assignments he participated in mission in Mozambique, Angola, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
With 10 books published, he cooperated in more than 100 books, articles and projects written in Portuguese, Spanish and English, specially related to Military History, Strategy and International Relations.
