The Maritime Security Course is a flagship initiative of the Atlantic Centre (AC). The Centre operates on an annual cycle for its core activities. The cycle begins with the selection of a theme by its members, which will guide the Centre's work for the year.

The AC Maritime Security Course, usually held in May, addresses this theme, bringing together approximately seventy auditors, delegates, speakers, and experts from around the Atlantic Basin for a one-week immersive experience.

The cycle concludes at the end of October with the AC Annual Seminar, where the group of researchers presents their projects, which are published in the AC Annual Report.

The participant call, for the Maritime Security Course, is issued in the beginning of each year.
