Introduction
The ongoing transformations in global geopolitics have made the European Defence more indispensable than ever.
The European Union urgently needs to strengthen its role as a global player and a producer of international security, investing in defence, capacity building and operational readiness, in complementary with NATO, which remains the pillar of collective defence in Europe.
Peace and Security in Africa, Maritime Security in the Atlantic, EU-NATO relations, Resilience, and the European Defence Economy will be high on the Portuguese Presidency´s agenda for the Common Security and Defence Policy.
