​​​​​​​​The Atlantic Centre, the International Maritime Organization, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in partnership with Cabo Verde, financed by Germany, will host the “Maritime Security 2024: Innovations and Partnerships for the Future” in Cabo Verde, Cidade da Praia on the 8th and 9th of October 2024.

Maritime security is essential to support the Blue Economy. Many maritime security forums have been key supporters of the Blue Economy concept, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea and the Indian Ocean regions. This conference aims to contribute to understand the co-evolution and co-dependence of Economic Development, Blue Economy and Maritime Security agendas, with particular focus on the Atlantic Ocean.

In addition, the "Maritime Security 2024: Innovations and Partnerships for the Future" conference views to promote innovative and sustainable strategies that go beyond traditional security measures by centring on the protection of maritime ecosystems, to enhance human security, to leverage modern technologies and to connect policy makers, investors, and academia.

The two days will contain guided discussions over the following themes:
