On 22 April 2026, ISCSP-ULisboa hosted the Arctic Conference, an initiative organised by the Atlantic Centre in collaboration with ISCSP and with the support of the Embassies of Canada, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden, as well as the Diplomatic Institute.
Under the theme "The Melting of the World's Last Strategic Frontier: Understanding the Arctic in the 21st Century," the conference brought together representatives from Arctic States, members of the Atlantic community, international experts, and industry leaders to analyse the evolving geopolitical, environmental, and strategic landscape of the region.
Throughout the day, discussions focused on three distinct yet converging areas of analysis: diplomatic, academic, and operational.
The panel "Diplomacy in the Arctic: Ambassadors' Roundtable" opened the conference and featured the participation of H.E. Ambassador Ana Paula Zacarias (Diplomatic Institute), H.E. the Ambassador of Canada to Portugal, Elise Racicot, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Norwegian Embassy, Karina Asbjørnsen, H.E. the Ambassador of Finland to Portugal, Christian Lindholm, and H.E. the Ambassador of Sweden to Portugal, Elisabeth Eklund.
