A Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da União Europeia (Ministério da Defesa Nacional) e o Royal Institute for International Affairs (Instituto Egmont) organizam um evento conjunto, sobre:
"O futuro da Defesa Europeia e as prioridades da Presidência Portuguesa: parcerias africanas, segurança marítima e resiliência".
Este evento permitirá ao Ministro da Defesa português, João Gomes Cravinho, apresentar as principais prioridades da presidência portuguesa do Conselho da UE em relação à Política Comum de Segurança e Defesa. A intervenção será seguida por um comentário introdutório de Sven Biscop, Diretor do Programa Europa no Mundo do Instituto Egmont.
O objetivo é permitir uma discussão franca com a comunidade dos envolvidos, em Bruxelas e por toda a Europa, em matéria de Defesa Europeia.
Uma atenção especial será dedicada à dinâmica atual em relação às relações transatlânticas e à cooperação com a NATO, às parcerias e missões europeias de segurança na África, à Segurança Marítima, bem como ao papel das Forças Armadas em resposta a emergências complexas. E por último, mas não menos importante, irá aludir à chamada Bússola Estratégica.

The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union (Ministry of National Defence) and the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Egmont Institute) organise a joint event on:
"The future of European Defence and the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency: African partnerships, Maritime Security and Resilience".
This event will allow the Portuguese Minister of Defence, João Gomes Cravinho, to present the key priorities of the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the EU regarding the Common Security and Defence Policy. This will be followed by an introductory comment by Sven Biscop, Director Europe in the World Programme at the Egmont Institute.
The aim is to allow an open engagement with the community of those involved in Brussels and in the capitals across Europe in matters of European Defence.
Particular attention will be devoted to current dynamics regarding Transatlantic relations and EU-NATO cooperation, European security partnerships and missions in Africa, Maritime Security, as well as the role of the Armed Forces in response to complex emergencies. And last but not least, the Strategic Compass.
